This is a heavy implication that John Smoltz will return to the starting rotation, and Danny Kolb will assume the closer's role.
Kolb was 39 for 44 in save opportunitites last year for the Brewers. He was 0-4 with a 2.98 ERA.
If Byrd comes back, which probably will happen, that would make the rotation consist of Smoltz, Mike Hampton, John Thomson, Horacio Ramirez, and Paul Byrd.
This also implies that the Braves think there's no chance of Jaret Wright coming back.
Trade paves way for Smoltz's return to rotation
