Braves trade Marrero to Royals

on .

Eli Marrero was traded today to the Royals for right-handed reliever Jorge Vasquez and cash considerations. Trading Marrero frees up some money, and the Royals are giving the Braves "cash considerations" for him too. My guess that this money will be used to either help sign Hudson to an extension or for the Braves to get an outfielder; seeing as how they have 2 huge gaps in the corner spots now. I think that Ryan Langerhans and Billy McCarthy will be used to fill one of the spots in a platoon, and in the other the Braves will either sign a free agent or make another trade. For those of you who don't want to go through the AJC registration process, this link has both the Hudson deal and the Marrero deal in the same story from the official Braves site: Braves get Hudson from A's
