The Braves scored early and often off of Reds starter Ramon Ortiz and the Redsí bullpen en route to a 12-2 easy victory.
The Braves scored twice in the first and 4 times in the 2nd, knocking out Ortiz before there were 2 outs in the 2nd. The Braves then scored 6 more runs off of Redsí ìrelief.î They got 1 run in the 4th, 2 runs in the 5th, and 3 runs in the 7th.
Jorge Sosa (7-1) started and allowed a lot of baserunners, but was the beneficiary of the Bravesí offense. Sosa went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, 3 walks, and struck out 4. Blaine Boyer and Dan Kolb had scoreless innings. Macay McBride gave up a run in the 7th. Kyle Farnsworth made his Bravesí debut with a scoreless 9th, allowing a hit and had a strikeout.
Chipper Jones left the game in the 4th after hurting himself diving for a ball in the 4th. It was diagnosed as a ìstrained rotator cuffî and he is day-to-day.
Offensive contributors: Chipper was 3-3 with his 9th homer, doubled, scored twice, and had 4 RBIs before leaving the game. Brian McCann was 3-5, homered, had 2 RBIs, and scored 3 times. Marcus Giles was 3-5 with 3 RBIs and scored twice. Rafael Furcal walked twice and scored twice.
Horacio Ramirez will pitch against Brandon Claussen tomorrow.
