The Braves offense pummeled Javier Vasquez on their way to victory.
Mike Hampton (5-2) made his first start since coming off the DL the 3rd time and pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 runs while scattering 9 hits, 1 walk, and didn't strike anybody out. I'm not going to put a lot into that considering it was his first start back. He got the win thanks to the offense. Horacio Ramirez evidently justified his move to the bullpen, giving up 5 runs in 3.2 innings, and Boyer got the last out of the game.
The Braves scored 7 times in the 3rd to break it open.
Offensive contributors: Everybody. Chipper was 3-4 with his 10th homer, had 2 doubles, a walk, 4 RBIs, and scored 3 runs. Marcus Giles was 2-4 and scored 3 runs. Rafael Furcal was 1-4 with a double, a walk, and scored. Andruw Jones was 1-2 with a walk and scored twice. Adam LaRoche was 1-4 with a walk and scored. Jeff Francoeur was 1-4 with a 3 run homer; his 9th (and threw 2 men out at the plate, and he's already among the league leaders in outfield assists). Ryan Langerhans was 1-4 with his 7th homer, walked, had 2 RBIs, and scored. Kelly Johnson was 1-2 with his 9th homer.
The Braves lead the division by 5 games; the top 4 teams in the division all have winning streaks.
The Braves are off tomorrow, and play Tuesday night against LA; John Smoltz vs. Derek Lowe.
