Ben Sheets dominated the Braves before leaving the game with an injury as he outdueled Horacio Ramirez 3-1.
Ramirez (10-8) pitched well enough to win, but didn't get any run support. He went 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Unusually good peripherals. Boyer pitched a scoreless 8th.
The Brewers got an unearned run in the first and a 2 run homer by Carlos Lee in the 7th for their scoring. The only run the Braves got was an RBI single by Andruw Jones to score Marcus Giles in the 8th after Sheets had to come out of the game.
Offensive contributors: Johnny Estrada was 3-4 with a double. (The first time I've listed him as an offensive contributor in a long, long time.) Kelly Johnson was 2-5. Marcus Giles was 1-3 with a walk and scored.
The Marlins and the Nationals won. The Phillies and Mets play late. With a Phillies win, the lead would be trimmed to 2.5 games.
John Smoltz will try to be the stopper again tomorrow against Rick Helling.
