Dodgers 7, Braves 4

on .

John Thomson got hammered in his 2nd start back from the DL as the Dodgers took 2 of 3 from the Braves in Atlanta. Thomson (3-3) didn't make it out of the 4th, allowing 7 runs on 7 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. I think we'll have to be patient for a few starts with him and Hampton as they get back in shape. The bullpen came in and was great though. Brower, Sosa, Boyer, and Farnsworth all had scoreless appearances. The Braves made the game a little closer with a 3 run 6th inning as Andruw hit a 2 run homer and LaRoche went back-to-back, but the Dodgers bullpen shut the door. Offensive contributors: Adam LaRoche was 2-4 with his 15th homer, an RBI, and 2 runs. Chipper was 2-4 with a run. Brian McCann was 2-2 with an RBI. Kelly Johnson was 2-4. Andruw hit his league-leading 39th homer although he was 1-4. The Phillies and Nationals split a doubleheader. Marlins won. Mets lost. The Phillies passed the Astros for the Wild Card lead, meaning if the playoffs began today that the Braves would get to play the Padres in the first round. Mike Hampton will open a weekend series against San Diego against Chan Ho Park.
