Tim Hudson gave up 3 runs including a 2 run homer to Randy Winn in the 7th inning as the Giants rallied to beat the Braves, 5-3.
Hudson (8-7) was in complete control after 6 innings. He ended up going 7 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, a walk, and a season-high 10 strikeouts. Kolb and Foster accounted for another run in the 8th; Brower had to get the last out that inning. McBride pitched a scoreless 9th.
The Braves opened up a 2-1 lead after 3 innings as Furcal singled, then Pedro Feliz misplayed a Langerhans hit into a double, and then Giles hit a triple that arguably should have been caught.
They added a 3rd run on a LaRoche RBI double in the 5th.
But they couldnít hang on, and the Giants salvaged the last game of the series after scoring the 4 runs in the 7th and 8th inning.
Offensive contributors: Marcus Giles extended his hitting streak to 15 games as he went 3-5 with a triple, a double, an RBI, and scored. Ryan Langerhans was 2-5 with an RBI and a run. Andruw Jones and Wilson Betemit were each 1-3 with a walk. Jeff Francoeurís hitting streak ended after coming back to Earth with an 0-4 day.
The Nationals, Marlins, and Mets also lost. The Phillies have a late game. The Braves lead by 5.5 games at the moment over Philadelphia.
The Braves now host the Diamondbacks for 3 games. Jorge Sosa will open against Claudio Vargas tomorrow night. I canít promise that Iíll be able to recap the game tomorrow, but Iíll try. I should be available on Saturday.
