The Braves signed Raul Mondesi to a one year 1 million dollar contract with incentives. He should be the stopgap until Francoeur and/or Marte are ready.
Mondesi can put up hopefully a .280 average with an OBP around .340 and add about 25 homers and 90 RBI. I'm being optimistic, but I don't think he'll be terrible as this is probably his last chance to be an MLB regular unless he shapes up.
I think it's a good creative move by Schuerholz. It's low risk at that cost. Also, the Braves can use the good amount of money they have left to sign Hudson and/or Furcal to extensions.
