on .

Friday:-A's 6, Braves 4 Eric Chavez hit a go-ahead 2 run homer off of Roman Colon (0-3) in the 7th inning to help Oakland break an 11 game road losing streak. Colon continues to struggle with giving up home runs, and his ERA ballooned to 8.50. On offense, Brian McCann led the way in his debut, going 2 for 3 with a walk and an RBI. Andruw Jones was 2-3 and Marcus Giles was 2-5. Kyle Davies went 5 and two thirds innings, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts, getting a no decision. Saturday:-Braves 5, A's 3 Andruw Jones hit two 2-run homers, Brian McCann hit his first big league homer, and John Smoltz pitched his first complete game in 6 years to lead the Braves to victory. Smoltz (5-5) gave up 3 runs, all in the 6th inning, and allowed 5 hits, 3 walks, and struck out 4. Andruw Jones' homers were his 13th and 14th of the season, and each of them were go-ahead shots. Other contributors on offense: Adam LaRoche, who was 3-4; Andy Marte, who was 1-3 with a walk; and Kelly Johnson, who walked twice. Sunday:-A's 11, Braves 5 Oakland scored 6 runs in the 7th inning off of Adam Bernero to break open a one run lead into a blowout. Bernero's ERA is now 5.45. This was after taking the lead in the 6th, scoring off of Blaine Boyer (0-1) in his major league debut. Horacio Ramirez started and wasn't good, going 5 innings and giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, 4 walks, and no strikeouts. His ERA is 5.20. The offense was okay: Andruw Jones was 1-4 but the one hit was another 2 run homer, his 15th homer of the season. Julio Franco was 1-3 with 2 walks. Ryan Langerhans was 1-2 with a sac fly and a walk. Rafael Furcal, Andy Marte, and Brian Jordan were each 1-3 with a walk. Lots of walks drawn today off of Barry Zito. The Braves now travel to Texas, 4.5 games out of first place (that lead seems to be growing with red-hot Washington and Philadelphia) and tied for 3rd in the division. Tim Hudson will start tomorrow, facing Chris Young. On Tuesday, Jorge Sosa will get the nod facing Pedro Astacio. Wednesday, in the rubber game, Kyle Davies will go against Chan Ho Park. The Braves are in desperate need of a series win-they've lost 5 series in a row.
