Half-Week Recap

on .

The Braves haven't lost any Grapefruit League contests yet, winning their first week's worth of games to kick off the 2005 preseason. Here are quick highlights of the last three games: Saturday: Braves 4 - Astros 3 (10 innings)     Ten different Braves scatter 11 hits to outlast Roy Oswalt and what's left of the Killer B's. Horacio Ramirez pitched a solid, pain-free first inning and looks to be ready for the 2005 season. (ESPN: box score, recap) Sunday: Braves 8 - Mets 7     The Braves won a wild one and John Smoltz enjoyed his first start of the spring. Brian Jordan led the offense with three hits including a homer, two RBI, and three runs scored. Former Brave Andres Galarraga also homered off Zack Miner, who otherwise pitched three solid innings. (ESPN: box score) Monday: Braves 5 - Mets 0     The Braves only managed five hits, but they included a three-run homer from Pete Orr, who added another RBI to be the Braves' MVP for a day. Tim Hudson's first spring start, quite a successful one, came against former Brave Tom Glavine, and according to ESPN's box score Andy Marte got in an inning of work! (ESPN: box score) Tuesday: Braves 8 - Yankees 2     Today's victory was the seventh in a row to start the spring, the sixth against big-league clubs. Mike Hampton pitched very well for three innings; no Braves starting pitcher has allowed a run so far this spring! Brian Jordan, Chipper Jones, and Julio Franco each had two hits; Chipper hit a double and a home run, scored two runs and drove in two. The rest of the Braves' 15 hits were scattered throughout the lineup. (box score)
