AJC Braves pitching coach Leo Mazzone signed a three-year guaranteed contract with the Baltimore Orioles late Thursday that makes him the highest paid pitching coach in baseball, Mazzone's representatives said. The deal, expected to be announced by the Orioles Friday, will pay Mazzone about $500,000 per season, according to sources familiar with the negotiations. That would double his salary last season with the Braves... The Braves will receive a low-level minor league player from Baltimore as compensation for letting the Orioles talk to Mazzone while he was still under contract with the Braves. "The teams are working that out," said Mazzone's agent, Todd Thrasher." Goodbye and good luck, Leo. I hope the Braves promote a pitching coach from within the organization.
