The Marlins took the first game of the series as the Braves continued their postseason roster auditions. John Thomson (4-6) was average, pitching 5.1 innings and giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 9 hits, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. The umpire had a really small strike zone. John Foster got the last 2 outs in the 6th. Joey Devine pitched a perfect 7th. Kyle Farnsworth gave up a 2 run homer during a 8th inning tune-up in the rain. The offense didnít do a whole lot. They left 9 runners on base by my count. (That was mostly things like Brian Jordan striking out with RISP though.) Most of the regulars started, but came out of the game after 2 or 3 innings. Offensive contributors: Pete Orr was 2-2 and scored. Chipper Jones was 1-1 and walked. The Phillies won, and the Astros lost. The Astros have a Magic Number of 2 to clinch the Wild Card with 2 games left. They have a 1 game lead. It's getting interesting... Jorge Sosa is listed as the starter against Jason Vargas tomorrow
