Ryan Howard hit a game-winning grand slam in the top of the 10th as the Phillies took the 2nd game of the series.
Horacio Ramirez continued to struggle, pitching 6 unimpressive innings and giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts.
Macay McBride got into a 7th inning jam and gave up a run, although Jim Brower of all people got a double play to escape, which is like a blind squirrel finding an acorn.
Reitsma pitched a scoreless 8th, and Farnsworth pitched a scoreless 9th.
Kyle Davies came on to pitch the 10th inning. He walked the leadoff man, then Chase Utley golfed a double off the right field wall. After an intentional walk to load the bases with nobody out, Davies got a groundball and an out at home plate.
John Foster then came in to face Howard, who did his thing.
The Braves had rallied from 3 run deficits twice. After spotting the Phillies a 3-0 lead, Johnny Estrada hit a 2 run homer and Adam LaRoche walked with the bases loaded to tie it.
When Philadelphia took a 6-3 lead, Furcal and Chipper got on for LaRoche who homered to tie it in the 7th.
Offensive contributors: Adam LaRoche was 2-4 with his 18th homer, walked, had 4 RBIs, and scored twice. Johnny Estrada was 2-5 with a homer, 2 RBIs, and a run. Rafael Furcal was 1-3, walked twice, and scored twice. Chipper Jones was 1-3, walked twice, and scored. Ryan Langerhans was 1-3 with a walk.
The Marlins lost, putting them 4 games back with 10 games to go. Theyíre almost out of it.
The Phillies picked up a game in the division with the win and are 5 games back in the East, and remain 2 games back behind the Wild Card-leading Astros who won tonight.
Tim Hudson will pitch against Jon Lieber in the rubber game tomorrow afternoon.
