Rockies 6, Braves 5

on .

Chris Reitsma allowed a go-ahead 3 run homer to Todd Greene in the 8th inning as the Braves blew a 5-1 lead and lost the first game of the series. Horacio Ramirez pitched 5.1 mediocre innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, no walks, and struck out 2. Blaine Boyer got the last 2 outs in the 6th inning. He threw one pitch in the 7th inning, then had to leave with an "inflammation of the right shoulder." He is day-to-day. Jim Brower pitched a scoreless 7th. Foster got one out in the 8th, but Reitsma came in and didn't get an out and gave up 3 runs. (I think he's tired, he's pitched a lot lately.) McBride got the last 2 outs in the 8th, and Lerew pitched a scoreless 9th. The Braves, as mentioned before, took a 5-1 lead early, highlighted by home runs by LaRoche and Francoeur. They couldn't score again after the 5th though. Ramirez gave up 2 runs before leaving with a 5-3 lead, and Greene provided his heroics in the 8th. Offensive contributors: Adam LaRoche was 2-4 with his 19th homer and scored twice. Jeff Francoeur was 1-3 with his 14th homer and walked 2 times. Ryan Langerhans was 2-3 with a double, a walk, and scored. Rafael Furcal was 2-5 with an RBI. Chipper Jones walked twice. The Phillies were leading the last time I checked. If they win, the Magic Number would remain at 2. A Braves win and a Phillies loss tomorrow would clinch the division. 5 games remaining. Tim Hudson will pitch tomorrow against Aaron Cook.
