Braves 13, Giants 8

on .

The Braves hit 4 home runs and outscored the Giants. Andruw homered twice, Chipper homered, and LaRoche homered. The Braves put a dent in Schmidt's ERA. The Braves were also boosted by 4 SF errors, and bad defense allowed them to jump in front of the Giants in a 4 run 3rd inning. Hudson (11-10, 4.85) pitched into the 7th, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits, 3 homers, 0 walks, and struck out 2. After he got into a jam, McBride and Paronto combined to get out of it. Tyler Yates pitched into a bases loaded nobody out jam in the 8th, and Ken Ray managed to get out of it with just 1 run scoring. But Ray pitched into his own jam in the 9th, and was charged with 3 runs before Wickman got the final out with 1 pitch. The bullpen has been pretty shaky lately, especially since Baez has been out. Offensive contributors: All of the starting position players had a hit except Giles. LaRoche had 3 hits, while Chipper, Andruw, and Francoeur each had 2 hits. Andruw hit his 31st and 32nd homers, LaRoche's homer was his 27th, and Chipper's homer was his 22nd homer. Chuck James pitches against Brad Hennessey tonight as the Braves go for their 4th win in a row.
