Pirates 5, Braves 4

on .

The Braves lost the series to the Pirates. Tim Hudson pitched 6 mediocre innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, a homer, 2 walks, and struck out 5. He was taken off the hook when the Braves tied the game in the 6th with some help of Pirates pitching losing the strike zone. Adam LaRoche drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game after McCann had knocked in a run. LaRoche and Chipper hit solo homers earlier in the game to account for the other runs. But Paronto gave up a solo homer in the 7th and the Braves didn't get it back. Offensive contributors: Adam LaRoche was 1-3 with his 26th homer, a walk, and had 2 RBIs. Chipper's homer was his 19th. Brian McCann was 1-3 with a walk and an RBI. The Nationals now go to Atlanta and Chuck James will have a rematch against Ramon Ortiz.
