David O'Brien have confirmed that the Braves are in talks and may be close to making a deal with Seattle. Rumors are that it's Horacio Ramirez for Rafael Soriano. I quote:Sources including AJC writer
FOLKS, I can stay online every minute when Iíve got to actuall walk all over this hotel and make phone calls, etc. ANYWAY, yes, this HORACIO for SORIANO thing is very close to happening, and it would be a HUGE deal for the Braves. Unless and until Horacio develops into a stady starter, the Braves would have won that deal by getting a nasty, nasty setup guy with closer potential. Theyíre still waiting word on Gonzalezís elbow, and this Ramirez/Soriano trade would NOT preclude the other from happening. If they get both, the Braves could go from on of the worst to perhaps the BEST NL bullpen, and thatís no exaggeration. And be set at setup and closer even after 2007 when Wickmanís gone. Wow. What a day.I like this rumor much better than the LaRoche to Pittsburgh for Mike Gonzalez one, which nobody is crazy about. Poor Seattle would be getting fleeced. Keep your fingers crossed.
