All-Star Game roster The Braves got 3 players selected to the All-Star Game. I don't think you can blame these guys for the season we're having. Congratulations to Brian McCann on his first selection. Nobody expected him to be this good this fast. Don't you think he would be starting if not for that collision? He's a vastly superior player to Lo Duca, or any other NL catcher for that matter. Andruw, over the course of the season, has probably been the Braves' most dependable player. He's not on pace to hit 50 again this year, but he's probably still going to hit 35-40 homers with an .850 OPS and his usual Gold Glove defense. The NL is weak with shortstops again this year (in comparison to the AL) and Jose Reyes is the starter. Reyes is a fine player and has basically been Rafael Furcal circa 2003, but he's no Tejada. Edgar Renteria has had a nice rebound in his return to the NL, hitting .300, and got the choice to back up Reyes. I have never cared a whole lot about the All-Star hoopla, but maybe the NL will pick up a victory and offset the interleague disparity. Expect 1 or 2 off-topic posts during the All-Star Break, and of course a post about how each Brave did in the game or Home Run Derby if Andruw is in it.
