Adam LaRoche homered twice to help the Braves take the series.
Tim Hudson (8-8, 4.87) was adequate, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits, 5 walks, and struck out 4 before running out of gas in the 6th. McBride got the last out.
The Braves got on the board first in the 2nd inning when LaRoche and Todd Pratt hit back-to-back homers. It was 2-1 for awhile with Cole Hamels striking everybody out before a 5 run 6th for the Braves which included a LaRoche 3 run homer.
The Phillies made it 7-4 in the 6th, but the Braves answered with 2 more runs in the 7th to make it 9-4. The Phillies hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 7th off of Ken Ray, and a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 8th off of Tyler Yates to make it 9-8.
Wilson B. homered in the top of the 9th for an insurance run, and Wickman pitched a perfect 9th for his first save as a Brave.
Offensive contributors: Everyone in the lineup had at least one hit except for Langerhans (who drew a walk). Adam LaRoche had 2 homers, his 18th and 19th, and 4 RBIs. Todd Pratt had 2 hits including his 3rd homer. Francoeur and Renteria both reached base twice; Francoeur with a walk and Renteria who was HBP. Wilson Baytemee's homer was his 9th of the season.
Both Joneses were out of the lineup again tonight, although Andruw should return tomorrow.
The Braves will now head home to play the Marlins. Chuck James will face Annibal Sanchez in a matchup of successful rookies tomorrow.
