Braves 14, Cardinals 5

on .

Andruw Jones was 5-5 with 2 homers, a double, and 6 RBIs as the Braves took the 2nd game of the series, and won their 7th game in a row. Tim Hudson (7-8, 4.95) was solid early, but tired in the 6th on 3 days rest. (Pratt also came in to catch that inning.) He lasted 5.2 innings and allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, 1 homer, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout. Villarreal finished the 6th and pitched a scoreless 7th. Yates pitched a scoreless 8th. Moylan pitched around a leadoff double for a scoreless 9th. The Braves scored in every inning until the 7th. Offensive contributors: Everyone except for Francoeur had a hit. Andruw's homers were his 23rd and 24th. LaRoche hit his 17th homer to go along with 2 hits and a walk. Chipper had his 15th homer along with 2 hits and a walk. McCann hit his 10th homer along with 2 hits. Betemit, Renteria, and Thorman also had 2 hits. The Braves are apparently going to call up Jason Shiell instead of Cormier. Shiell has started 3 games in Richmond with a 2.14 ERA. Moylan will head back to Richmond. Shiell's first start will be against Chris Carpenter.
