Braves 5, Phillies 1

on .

The Braves scored 4 runs in the 9th to pick up the win. Horacio Ramirez pitched 7 solid innings, allowing 1 run on 10 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 5. He did a good job of keeping the ball down and got 3 double plays while keeping the ball in the park. The Phillies got their run in the 2nd with a series of bloop hits. Edgar Renteria led off the 4th with a solo homer for the Braves run to make it 1-1. Brett Myers was dominant for most of the night, shutting down the Braves offense. But he probably stayed in too long, pitching into the 9th. Marcus Giles, back in the lineup, led off with a hard-earned walk. After Renteria tried to bunt and failed getting to 2 strikes, he doubled into the left field corner to score Giles. Flash Gordon came in to pitch. Betemit flied out and McCann was intentionally walked, then Francoeur gave the Braves insurance with a 3 run homer to cap the scoring. McBride (2-1, 4.60) got through the 8th. Bob Wickman made his Braves debut in the 9th, and pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout to finish the game. Offensive contributors: Edgar Renteria was 2-4 with his 11th homer, doubled, and had 2 RBIs. Jeff Francoeur was 1-4 with his 19th homer and had 3 RBIs. Chipper and Andruw both missed the game. Chipper has a strained oblique and Andruw has a sore shoulder. Tim Hudson will go against Cole Hamels tomorrow.
