The Braves lit up Bronson Arroyo and it seems that they're hitting on all cylinders heading into the All-Star Break.
John Thomson had to leave after 2.2 scoreless innings with "right shoulder stiffness." Oscar Villarreal (8-1, 4.67) came in and pitched 2 scoreless innings before giving up a 3 run homer to Adam Dunn in the 6th. But that was all the Reds would get. Yates, McBride, Paronto, and Sosa combined to shut the door the rest of the way.
The Braves scored 4 runs in the first 2 innings then knocked Arroyo out of the game with a 2 run 5th. After the Reds cut the 6-0 lead in half, Andruw hit a 2 run homer in the 6th for some insurance.
Offensive contributors: Everyone in the starting lineup had at least one hit. Chipper Jones is still red-hot, going 3-4 with 2 doubles, a walk, and scored to extend his hitting streak, and to extend his franchise-record streak of 11 consecutive games with an extra base hit. Renteria, Thorman, and Langerhans also had 3 hits, and Thorman homered while Langerhans added a double. McCann had 2 hits. Andruw had his 20th homer and Francoeur had his 17th homer. Hitting streaks were also extended for Giles, Renteria, and Francoeur.
Now the All-Star Break.
