Cardinals 8, Braves 3

on .

How come we never win the pitching mismatches that the other team sometimes does? Oh well, I guess you can't win them all, and I cannot complain against a 5-1 road trip so far against 2 division leaders. Jason Shiell held the fort for 2 innings while the Braves manufactured a 1st inning run to take a 1-0 lead against Carpenter. But he was solved in the 3rd, when he allowed a 4 run inning including a Jim Edmonds 3 run homer. Shiell ended up going 4 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits, a homer, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Carpenter, of course, shut down the Braves. He's having another fine year; 2nd in the league in ERA. The Cardinals got 4 more runs in the 5th to put it away. Basically, 2 big innings did the Braves in. The Braves got 2 late runs after the game was essentially over. Offensive contributors: Brian McCann homered in his 5th game in a row, his 11th of the season, going 1-3. Chipper Jones was 2-4 with a double. Andruw Jones was 1-3 with a walk and scored. The Braves are off tomorrow, then head to play the Phillies in a 4 game series. I get sick of playing the division rivals, don't you? Smoltz (by the way, his ERA is better than both Glavine and Pedro now) will pitch against Cory Lidle. --Also, If you didn't see the comments, there is a petition for the TBS debacle here and here. Honestly, I don't know if it will do any good, but at least TBS knows that there's a lot of viewers that they are gonna lose. Including myself, as I don't have much use for stupid dramas like "Sex and the City."
