The 6th inning was like a terrible reenactment of the past 2 years playoffs. The way things are going, it doesn't look like we'll have to suffer through a division series again.
The Braves were actually winning 2-1 in the top of the 6th, and had Andy Pettitte on the ropes. Bases loaded, nobody out. Of course, the bottom of the order was up. Pratt struck out. Thomson, with a fairly low pitch count, hit for himself and flew out to right, and Francoeur attempted to score. He got thrown out, and the Braves ended up not scoring any runs at all.
In the bottom of the inning, Willy Taveras led off with a single. Mike Lamb singled. Lance Berkman then homered, his 2nd of the game, to give Houston a 4-2 lead. Reitsma then came in to pitch, walked 2, then Orlando Palmeiro knocked them in to make it 6-2.
Chipper made it close with a 2 run homer the next inning to make it 6-4, but Villarreal gave up a solo homer to Lamb and the Braves couldn't score again. The pitching staff is wretched right now.
Offensive contributors: Chipper Jones was 2-4 with his 6th homer, and had 3 RBIs. Jeff Francoeur was 2-4 with his 12th homer. Matt Diaz was 2-3 and walked.
Sosa loses to Fernando Nieve tomorrow.
