Dodgers 8, Braves 3

on .

It seems like everytime the bullpen might get in a rhythm and find some dependable pitchers, that they have a bad outing and blow it. Tonight, the Braves were in a 3-3 game in the 8th inning. Remlinger (2-3, 3.86) was pitching and got the first 2 guys out. Then suddenly, it looked like he got tired. He gave up a double to Nomar and walked Willy Aybar. Andre Ehthier knocked in a run on a single through the hole at short to make it 5-3. Tyler Yates then made his debut, and then Ramon Martinez knocked in another run. Yates got the next guy, although it took a good play by Renteria. Yates then came out for the 9th, and just stunk it up, putting the game out of reach. He allowed 3 runs. Jorge Sosa pitched 7 solid innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, didn't walk anyone, and struck out 4. He battled Aaron Sele to a draw, but the Dodgers bullpen shut the door. The Braves couldn't do much offensively tonight. Offensive contributors: Ryan Langerhans was 2-3, tripled, walked, and scored. Marcus Giles was 1-4, doubled, walked, and scored. Edgar Renteria was 1-3 and walked. Chipper Jones was 1-4 and walked. The Mets lost, but the Phillies retook 2nd place with a win. The Braves are back to 3rd and are 4.5 games back. Hudson against Brett Tomko tomorrow as the Braves try to avoid the sweep.
