The Braves blew yet another lead, and have lost 9 out of 12, and 6 road games in a row.
The Braves are 5-11 in one run games and 9 games out of 1st place with a 12-18 record. Simply put, the Braves haven't been very good.
Hudson (2-3) pitched well through 6 innings, but ran into 7th inning difficulties. He was gassed but Bobby wasn't about to go to the bullpen after last night. The Mets scored 4 runs in the 7th, all charged to Hudson. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 6 runs on 9 hits, 3 walks, and struck out 2.
After the Braves had to go to the bullpen anyway, Remlinger got an out, Moylan walked two and walked in a run but got out of it down 6-3. (The run he walked turned out to be the difference in the game.)
The Braves got a couple more runs and had the tying run at 3rd in the 9th, but couldn't come back.
Offensive contributors: Edgar Renteria was 1-3, walked twice, scored, extended his hitting streak to 22 games, but made the last out of the game. Ryan Langerhans was 1-3 with a walk and scored. LaRoche and Francoeur were each 1-4 with their 5th homers.
As if things couldn't get any worse, Andruw had to leave the game in the 7th after hurting his back.
Chuck James was placed on the 15 day DL with a strained hamstring, and Horacio Ramirez was activated even though he hasn't been on a rehab assignment because the Braves needed him in case of an emergency.
Smoltz will start on 3 days rest tomorrow against Jose Lima, just recalled from the minors.
