Ken Ray was claimed off waivers by the Royals. He was deemed expendable after a terrible 2nd half, making him look like a fluke.
Luis Hernandez, a slick fielding but weak hitting minor league shortstop was also claimed off waivers by Baltimore. He was deemed expendable as the Braves already have a shortstop just like him in Tony Pena, and better prospects in Yunel Escobar and Elvis Andrus behind him.
Left-handers John Foster and Wayne Franklin have been released.
The Braves are clearing space on the 40 man roster.
