Chuck James had yet another fine start and got enough offense as the Braves salvaged the last game of the series.
James (10-3, 3.33) went 7 shutout innings and allowed 5 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 7. He threw 117 pitches. McBride allowed the run in the 8th, Yates finished the 8th, and Wickman pitched the 9th for the save.
It was a scoreless game going into the bottom of the 5th. With 2 runners on base, Martin Prado hit the first homer of his big league career into the first row of the left field seats, giving the Braves a 3-0 lead. It was all James needed.
Offensive contributors: Martin Prado was 1-2 with a 3 run homer and walked. Brian McCann was 1-2 with a double and a walk. Andruw Jones hit his 34th homer.
The Braves will now play the Marlins. Lance Cormier will pitch against Dontrelle Willis.
