The Braves won the last game with Washington to take 2 out of 3.
Since the All-Star break, the Braves have been a pretty decent team with a record several games over .500. If anyone wants to do a study on how they rank in the NL since the ASB, that'd be cool. I don't have time right now.
Lance Cormier (4-5, 5.00) had an adequate start, going 6.1 innings and allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, a homer, 4 walks, and struck out 5. Paronto finished the 7th, Yates pitched a scoreless 8th, and McBride pitched a scoreless 9th.
Brian McCann put the Braves on top for good in the 3rd, hitting a 2 out 3 run homer to break a 1-1 tie and making it 4-1. The Braves cruised from there.
Offensive contributors: Orr, Andruw, and Francoeur each had 2 hits. Chipper also reached base twice, but had to leave again after his foot flared up. McCann's homer was his 21st.
The Braves
signed Bob Wickman for next year for about 6 million.
The Braves will now go to Colorado. Smoltz against Byung-Hyun Kim in the opener.
