The Braves bullpen depth took a big hit today with Blaine Boyer going down until at least May with a strained oblique muscle (we seem to be getting a lot of those). I wouldn't have been too worried going into this season with that, but although it is early Chad Paronto, Oscar Villareal, Tyler Yates, and Macay McBride all looking shaky. It sounds like the discomfort started right around the end of spring training, which may have played into him losing the job to Yates.
Mike Hampton has felt some discomfort in his left elbow this past weak, which could be a serious problem. He also went down with a strained oblique but underwent Tommy John surgery on his left elbow, which forced him to miss all of last year. Hampton will throw a bullpen session Sunday to better judge the status of his elbow.
Lance Cormier, who strained his right triceps†will long toss on Sunday to test his arm. He still expects to be ready to come off the DL when he is eligible on April 15.
