Note: Kristi has had Internet trouble tonight so she forwarded the recap to me. Personally, I'd have stuck with my made up one from earlier! Thanks, Kristi. There were two big stories tonight - one good and one bad. The good news is that Redman finally had a decent outing. He went 7 1/3 innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits, two of which were homers. Though it was a much better showing than his last two starts, he once again walked away with a loss. But this time, blame in on the offense...or lack thereof.

So the bad news tonight was that there was a near total lack of offense. The Cubs starter, Rich Hill, pitched eight scoreless innings. His delivery makes it tough for batters to see the ball as it leaves his hand, and so the Braves fell victim like others this season to this strong deception. In fact, Hill has only allowed 8 hits in 22 innings this season.

The Braves did, however, have four hits tonight. KJ continued to prove the naysayers wrong, going 2 for 3 tonight. This raises his average to .269 and his OBP to .397. The other hits tonight came from Francouer and Pena.

Yates and Villarreal had good appearances tonight. Yates finished off 2/3rds of the eighth without any hits or walks. Villarreal handled the ninth, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one. Not everyone loves Villarreal, but he didn't look bad tonight.

Let's just hope that tonight was a sign of things to come from Redman and that next time the offense can help get him a win.

Final Score: Cubs 3, Braves 0
