Braves routed by the Snakes

on .

It was ugly. The Braves have lost three straight and suffered their second consecutive defeat at the hands of the Diamondbacks -- this time they were on the end of a 12-6 drubbing. Arizona had 15 hits with pitcher Micah Owings the star at the plate with four connections, two of which flew over the wall for home runs and was only a triple shy of the cycle. His 11 total bases for the night was the most since Jim Tobin of the Boston Braves way back in 1942. The Braves offense still managed to muster six runs, three of which came of Owings. Frenchy homered a couple of times and the Jones boys both grabbed a four-bagger each. Carlyle was sloppy. He went five innings, giving up eight runs of which five were earned. The Mets won again last night and midway through August the Braves are starting to fall out of contention in the NL East. Many fans and pundits are speculating that the wildcard is their best way of securing October ball. I don't know about you but I want that division title back from the Mets.
