The Braves picked up a much needed win against the Phillies tonight. With the win tonight the Braves are 2.5 games back from the Mets. The Braves are also .5 games back from the the wild card leading Padres. We struck first tonight when Willie led off the game with a double. Chipper drove Willie in with a sac fly. Kelly Johnson hit a two-run homerun in the third inning. Chipper later hit a triple and Teixeira drove him in with a triple off of Pat Burrell's glove. The Phillies answered in the next inning with a homerun from Jimmie Rollins. Francoeur answered Rollins homerun with a homerun of his own. Cormier was pitching a good game until he hit the wall in the 5th inning. After giving up three runs in the fifth, Ron Mahay came in the game and pitched great. There was a runner at first and third when he entered the game and he didn't give up a run. He struckout the power hitting first-baseman Ryan Howard. He struck out the Phillies all-star center-fielder Aaron Rowand and got Gregg Dobbs to ground out to Teixeira. In the eighth inning, Andruw drove in Francouer with a double. Wickman closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning.
