scout.com, the Braves have promoted Tommy Hanson, Deunte Heath, and Kris Medlen to Myrtle Beach, while Moises Hernandez has earned a promotion to double-A Mississippi.According to Bill Shanks at
The Braves have promoted three members of the Rome Braves who were on the Sally League All-Star team. Tommy Hanson, Deunte Heath, and Kris Medlen have all been sent to join the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. And Moises Hernandez, who leads the Carolina League in wins with ten, is moving up to Double-A Mississippi.Hanson, who recently earned the number one spot on the Chop-n-Change mid-season top prospect list should start to see his record improve. A move from Rome to Myrtle Beach means he'll actually find out what run support is. Hanson, a draft-and-follow who was signed last season has a deceptively bad record at 2-6, but in 73 innings the 20-year old right-hander has a 2.59 ERA as well as 90/26 K/BB ratio and has held opposing batters to a .194 average. Heath and Medlen are both having very impressive seasons up to this point. Heath has a 2.03 ERA in sixteen games for Rome this season and Medlen has followed up his utter domination of his rookie ball opponents last year with more of the same against his competition for the Braves single-A club this year. Hernandez, the older brother of Mariners phenom Felix Hernandez, came over as compensation from the Orioles for signing ex-Braves pitching coach Leo Mazzone. Hernandez started at Mississippi but after his first start was sent down. Between Myrtle Beach and Mississippi, the 23-year old Hernandez is 10-4 with a 4.15 ERA and his future still looks like it will be in the bullpen. It will be interesting to see what he can do outside the friendly confines of Myrtle Beach with his ERA away from home sitting at 5.40.
