For awhile there, last night was looking like Wednesday night.† Again, there was a 6-6 tie in the middle of the game.† Fortunately, the Braves came out ahead this time.
The bad news is that Hudson was having an off night, to put it simply.† He pitched only three innings (and to one batter in the fourth) and gave up ten hits and six earned runs.† Moylan, Paronto, Ledezma, Soriano and Wickman took the remaining six innings and combined to give up only three hits and no runs.
Last night, 2 for 5 seemed to be the going rate.† Renteria, KJ, Frenchy and Salty all went 2 for 5.††Renteria had a double and†Frenchy had a homerun.† Chipper was 2 for 3 with two homeruns.† KJ, who batted fifth in the lineup last night, had a stolen base as well.† Other hits came from Harris, Hudson and Diaz†(pinch hitting).† Andruw broke his eight-game hitting streak - one I bet most of you didn't even notice he had.† He did however have one hit in each of the past eight games.† Although the streak was broken, he did tack on an RBI last night with a sacrifice fly.†
Other assorted news:
- Brian McCann was scratched just before Thursday night's game with a sprained right knee, although Cox said he was available if needed.
- Pete Orr was sent down in order to make room for Joey Devine.† The plan is to send Devine back down after Friday's game so that Jo-Jo Reyes can come up to†pitch Saturday's game.
- Chipper Jones tied and then took first place on the Braves all-time homerun list (ahead of Dale Murphy) with his two solo shots last night.
Final Score:† Braves 8, Dodgers 6
Tonight, Buddy Carlyle (2-2, 4.74 ERA) will take on Justin Germano (5-2, 3.12 ERA) in a 10:05 p.m. start in San Diego.
