Braves Continue Offensive Domination

on .

A week ago I bet you never would have believed that today I'd be telling you the Braves have a four game winning streak.† Granted it's been against the Nats and the Fish, but winning is winning at this point.† The offense was outstanding once again tonight.† Chipper was 2 for 3 tonight with a triple and four RBIs.† Francouer was 4 for 5 with a double and an RBI.† KJ was 3 for 4 with an RBI.† Even Chuck James went 2 for 3 tonight.† Renteria, Andruw and Thorman each contributed a hit as well.† The only real disappointment was Brian McCann going 0 for 6 tonight with four strikeouts after he had such a good series against the Nats earlier in the week.† The defense did its fair share tonight as well.† Thorman made an amazing catch on a foul ball that I'm sure will be on the ESPN highlight reels.† Chipper, not to be outdone, made an outstanding catch on a line drive at third several innings later.† I'm sure you'll see that one again too. Chuckie was as good on the mound tonight as he was at the plate.† He pitched 6 and 2/3rds innings, giving up only four hits and three walks while recording five strikeouts.† He gave up only one earned run, a solo homerun.† Yates took over for 1 and 1/3rd innings and gave up only one hit.† Ledezma finished up the final inning, giving up three hits and two earned runs. The Fish went through five pitchers tonight who combined to give up 14 hits, 10 walks and 12 earned runs.† The most memorable part for me though was the ninth inning performance by infielder, Jason Wood.† Pitching in the first game of his career, he got McCann, Francouer and KJ all to fly out.† I believe I heard the announcers say he was throwing those pitches around 75 MPH.† The whole thing was pretty amusing and I would imagine Jason Wood had the time of his life.† Chuck James improved to 7 and 7 and the Braves improve to 42-38.† The Braves are now 4 games behind the Mets and 1 game ahead of the Phillies after the Phillies loss to the Mets today. Final Score: Braves 12, Fish 3
