McBride Traded for Ledezma

on .

Update: Here comes the funny part. The Tigers will head to Atlanta to start their series with the Braves on Friday. Wilfredo Ledezma will ride on the team plane down to Atlanta and Macay McBride has already moved his stuff from the Braves clubhouse to a storage locker in the visitors clubhouse according to Dave O'Brien over at AJC. Update: According to numerous sources, the deal is Macay McBride for lefthander Wilfredo Ledezma, a reliever who can also start. The 26-year old Ledezma is 3-1 with a 4.79 ERA this season but has experienced control problems out of the pen. I like the deal and I like it a lot. The Braves have a lot of depth in the pen and Ledezma is someone who could be a very good fourth starter in the NL. The southpaw has hides the ball well and has a good four pitch mix with a 88-94 mph fastball as well as a good curve, and an average slider and change. Ledezma should seriously strengthen the back end of the rotation. Ledezma will most likely be stretched out for Richmond or start when Kyle Davies' spot in the rotation comes around again. Joey Devine has been added to the 25-man roster to replace lefty reliever Macay McBride, who was traded to the Detroit Tigers. McBride, the Braves lefty specialist struggled with command early but seemed to fix it after a trip down to Richmond to work out the kinks. Lately, he has started showing some command problems and has been ineffective against right handers. The southpaw has a 3.60 ERA along with 14 hits, 15 walks, and 17 strikeouts in 15 innings so far this year. Devine, 23, has a 2.03 ERA and 47 stikeouts in 31.1 innings for double-A Mississippi this season. In other news, southpaw starter Jo-Jo Reyes has been promoted to triple-A Richmond. This means one of two things. They are either trying to push him along to take over one of the rotation spots soon or what seems more likely with the trade of Macay McBride, they are priming him to take over the lefty specialist spot in the bullpen soon. Reyes has been notorious for fading over the last half of the season but is 9-1 with a 3.40 ERA so far this season between Richmond and Mississippi. His first start in Richmond, the southpaw went six, allowing one run on four hits, four walks, and six strikeouts.
