Willy Aybar: We've all been waiting to hear what is up with Aybar and today there is finally some good news to report. Aybar, who has been suspended without pay since mid-April for a number of reasons is in a substance-abuse rehab clinic right now. Aybar failed to show up for physical therapy before a couple games and then failed to show up to two meetings with Major League Baseball officials. His future with the Braves is still iffy at best.
Anthony Lerew: How many times have you heard this one? A young pitcher continues to pitch through arm pain without telling anyone. After getting knocked around in two innings on Saturday, Lerew admitted to pitching through elbow pain for most of the year and dealt with it by not throwing in between starts. Lerew said he believes it to just be tendinitis but that still will probably send him to the DL. At least there is a reason why he has been bad lately but this kind of immaturity is what has plagued Lerew throughout his career.
Lance Cormier: The injured righty made a rehab start for double-A Mississippi, allowing four runs in three innings of work.† He was perfect in the first and third innings, which is good but got hit hard with the four runs all coming in the second. The plan is for him to make two more rehab starts and then he could solve one of the holes in the rotation. Keep in mind he was making his rehab starts last time, felt discomfort in his triceps, and had to be shut down again.
Andruw Jones: Jones was dropped down in the lineup originally for the second game and then scratched with a sore back. Jones, who is currently batting below .220, seems to run into these a couple times a year after making a diving play or something along those lines but it never keeps him out long. Expect him to be back in the lineup tomorrow.
Mark Redman: He still sucks and I still hope they release him. It is hard to raise a 10+ ERA, but Redman did in the first game.
