With Macay McBride trying to find his control in AAA and Steve Colyer DFA by the Braves, John Schuerholz made a move to add some left-handed depth to the bullpen by signing Rheal Cormier to a minor league deal. Cormier was designated for assignment and eventually released by the Reds this season after three appearances in which he allowed three runs. Cormier will report to Triple-A Richmond on Monday. This signing should be much more useful than Tanyon Sturtze as Cormier is a lefty specialist that has enjoyed success in the past at the majors. The veteran southpaw had some very good seasons with the Phillies as he has recorded ERA's under 3.60 in three of the past four years with two ERA's under 2.00 in that same span.
