Hudson Suffers Another Loss

on .

After starting off the season strong, Hudson has faltered twice this week - once against Boston and last night against Philadelphia.† While he felt like he was throwing better last night than he had on Sunday against Boston, the Phillies hitters were racking up both hits and runs.† Hudson went 6 2/3rds innings and gave up†ten hits,†five earned runs and†three walks, while only striking out three.† He wasn't the only pitcher having problems with the Phillies, however.† Tyler Yates and Peter Moylan suffered similar fates.† Yates worked 2 1/3rd innings and gave up†two earned runs on two hits and one walk.† Moylan finished off the game, giving up†a hit and an earned run in the ninth.† While the Phillies' bats were working Hudson, Yates and Moylan, the Braves were unable to put up much of a fight against Moyer, Zagurski and Hernandez.† Moyer went 7 innings and gave up only five hits, two earned runs and one walk.† Zagurski and Hernandez then followed and shut out the Braves in the eighth and ninth innings. KJ, Prado, Francouer, Andruw and Diaz each had a hit and partially by luck managed to score three runs.† After hitting back-to-back singles in the sixth, KJ and Prado managed to score on an awkward play by Howard on Francouer's sharp grounder to third base.† All I can do is speculate, but not having Chipper and Renteria in the lineup really hurt.† Chipper is still out nursing his sore hand and Renteria was thrown out (along with Bobby Cox, who is now within two of Tug McGraw's record) after arguing a called third strike.† Kelly Meter:† 1 for 4 tonight with a single in the sixth.† His line is now .277/.387/.491. Final Score:† Braves 3, Phillies 8 Coming up tonight:† Braves rookie Buddy Carlyle (5-2, 2.59 in Richmond-AAA)†against Phillies Adam Eaton (4-3, 5.70)
