updates over at the AJC on a couple injuries that I'll pass on to you.Dave O'brien has some
- Chipper Jones hopes to be ready for the series opener against the Nationals Friday in Washington. Chipper sat out the Mets series due to a strained oblique, an injury that has plagued him all year. The third baseman took batting practice before yesterday's loss to the Mets at Shea stadium and said it felt a lot better and is perfectly fine left-handed, but a little sore when hitting from the right side.
- Octavio Dotel threw a 20-pitch side session at 75 percent on Tuesday, saying he felt a lot better about it. Dotel hit the DL with a right triceps injury fairly soon after the Braves acquired him from Kansas City. He has a $5.5 million player option but the team can void it and they almost certainly will. I think Dotel is willing to go back in even if he isn't really ready to show teams that he is healthy before hitting free agency.
- Mike Hampton threw off a mound for the first time since having elbow surgery back in April. The 35-year old left-hander is trying to come back from two lost seasons due to such surgeries and be an effective part of the Atlanta rotation next year. Any benefit the team could get from Hampton next year would be a huge plus for solidifying the rotation.
