- Dave O'Brien of the AJC is reporting that the Braves have made an offer to free agent starter A.J. Burnett. O'Brien says that GM Frank Wren confirmed an offer was made but denied previous media reports that the offer includes a guaranteed fifth year. Wren would not comment on the financial details but it is believed to be a four-year deal with an option for a fifth at around $15 million per year.
- Mark Bowman of MLB.com says that the Braves are close to signing free agent catcher Dave Ross to a 2-year $3.5 million deal. Ross, who has hit .222/.309/.435 over his seven-year career provides a pretty significant increase in offense over Clint Sammons and should be able to take some of the pressure off of Brian McCann.
- In another post, Bowman disagrees with a recent Ken Rosenthal report that the Braves are interested in Adam Dunn. owman cites Frank Wren's interest in a right-handed outfielder as the reason.
