The Braves agreed today to a $1.225 million contract for Diaz for the 2008 season.  Early reports indicate he can earn bonus incentives of $12,500 for 450 plate appearances and another $12,500 for 500 plate appearances.  Diaz made only $395,000 last season, so this is a substantial raise.  One I believe is well-deserved, by the way.  Diaz platooned in left field last year and batted .338.  In fact, he led the NL with a .484 average in interleague play.  His .287 average with runners in scoring position led me to pray for him to come around in the lineup when we needed a hit or a run.  He was dependable and consistent last season and became one of my favorite current Braves. Soriano remains the only arbitration-eligible player who is not yet signed.  Reports say he's been offered $2.4 million but is asking for $3.4 million.
