Reinforcements are coming! John Smoltz has been activated from the 15-day DL for tonight's game against the Florida Marlins. To open up a spot for the veteran right-hander, Phil Stockman was sent back down to triple-A Richmond. Smoltz, who is the only pitcher in baseball history with 200 wins and 150 saves, should provide a significant boost to a pen that has struggled at points this season. The former All-Star closer should transition into that same role, where he has a 2.35 ERA and 154 saves in 241 career appearances. Stockman on the other hand continues to get jerked around by the Braves. It seems that every time he has a chance to stick, there is something holding Stockman back. Eventually, you've got to assume that Stockman will get a real shot at a major league bullpen spot.
