Now playing left field:
Garret Anderson, for $2.5 million. He's not a better hitter than Omar Infante, Greg Norton, Josh Anderson, or what Brandon Jones could reasonably be expected to produce, but, at this point, whatever. Defensively, he's probably better than Griffey. Offensively, he's not great, particularly because of is always-anemic OBP. But then, the Angels don't believe in walks; the Braves seem to. He's known as a solid citizen.
I want to be more emotional about this, but I'm not. I used up all my outrage on missing out on Willingham, Burrell, Dunn and Abreu, and the way that Griffey dissed us. Anderson's just another stiff. Like I said: whatever.
