We avoided arbitration with Jeff Francoeur, meeting him in the middle and paying him $3.375 million to play right field for us next year. There's really not a lot to say. He's one of the worst players in baseball, and we're paying him more than we offered Ken Griffey Jr.

I don't wish any ill upon him. What I want him to do is to earn his starting job and earn the money, or to lose his job. In this economy, it irks the hell out of me that one of the worst employees in the country gets rewarded with $3.375 million, which kills our ability to get any better performers. Jeff, shape up or ship out.
