It's time for my annual Valentine's poem! Look back at last year's poem - I was surprised to have to change around so many names because of trades, injuries and free agency. I'm feeling good about how this year's squad looks though! It's time for Spring Training, where hope springs eternal in the heart of every baseball fan!
It's February 14th and I don't have a date,
But Valentine's Day I simply can't hate,
For I got the best present of all this year,
Pitchers and catchers are putting on their gear.
The season for football is finally done,
Hockey and basketball just aren't much fun,
Now the gloves are out and the grass is green,
Cox and the Braves are back on the scene!
Jurrjens and Campillo will be back on the mound,
With Kotchman on first we look good all around,
Gonzo and Soriano will shore up the pen,
They're sure to be as great as they've ever been.
Diaz and Anderson will cover the field with ease,
While Johnson and Jones in the infield will please,
Picking up Vazquez made the rotation much stronger,
Last year's pitching woes won't be here any longer.
Escobar at short will shine as a starter,
Beating this team will surely be harder,
McCann behind the plate and Francoeur in right field,
With Kawakami and Lowe the Division is sealed!
You won't see me cry on this Valentine's Day,
For although I am single, I'm happy to say,
Opening Dat at The Ted is finally near,
Goodbye winter - baseball season is here!
