Braves Journal's Mac Thomason, the dean of the Braves blogosphere, has cancer. Many of the readers here (and certainly this writer) owe a lot to Mac, whose impressive knowledge of baseball history, incisive analysis, and withering humor made the good seasons better and the bad years -- especially 2008 -- tolerable. He's the reason I went from a Braves fan to a smart Braves fan.

He stresses in his blog post that his illness is treatable. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
