31 July 2009
July 29th: Marlins 6, Braves 3
MVP: Garret Anderson, .122 WPA. Pair of doubles and a two-run homer, and that's about all the offense could muster.
LVP: Kenshin Kawakami, -.319 WPA. Three homers allowed in 4 2/3 innings plus three walks for six earned runs? Ouch. Not many times you'll throw up that line and not be LVP. He even struck out with men on the corners and two outs in his only plate appearance.
MIP: Josh Johnson's (yes, like the pitcher Josh Johnson) three-run homer with two outs in the fourth to put the Fish up 4-0.
UotG: Offense. Kenshin Kawakami was bad, but the offense still only managed three runs.
July 30th: Braves 6, Marlins 3
MVP: Brian McCann, .440 WPA. Two doubles is impressive, but he takes home the game ball for the go-ahead three-run jack in the top of the tenth.
LVP: Mike Gonzalez, -.180 WPA. Gonzo was brought in to protect a precious 3-2 lead after Vazquez got in trouble in the eighth. Two singles, a wild pitch and an intentional walk later, it was a tie game.
MIP: B-Mac's aforementioned homer.
UotG: Offense. Solid start from Vazquez helped, but the bats won this one.
