This is the first of six posts on the Yankees and Red Sox series at The Ted this week. I've got tickets to all six games and will be attending six games in as many days for the first time. Hopefully I won't collapse from exhaustion and can post here after each game. Without further adieu...
In 5 1/3 innings, Tommy Hanson earned win #3 tonight while giving up only four hits and striking out four. Although the five walks he issued kept things interesting, they didn't result in any damage. He started the game on fire throwing virtually nothing but strikes, but got into some trouble in the third and fourth with two baserunners who ended up stranded in the third and a bases loaded situation in the fourth. All in all it was a strong outing, however.
With the win, the Braves handed Chien-Ming Wang his sixth loss of the season to make him 0-6 on the year. McCann went 3-for-4 and a triple short of hitting for the cycle while grabbing a pair of RBIs. Escobar had a big night offensively as well, going 2-for-4 with a stolen base. Garret Anderson contributed the other two RBIs on a double in a 2 out situation.
Final Score: Braves 4, Yankees 0
For those who are heading to any of the next five games, be sure and purchase your parking ahead of time or ride MARTA. All Turner Field lots are permit parking only for the Yankees and Red Sox series. Also, you can look forward to some added enthusiasm from Braves fans. Although I saw at least as many people wearing Yankees gear around the stadium, the Braves fans weren't definitely louder around me. Don't expect the same from Sox fans this weekend - they'll make us look bad in the stands, even if they don't make us look bad on the field. I can say that because I'm also a Red Sox fan (although I assure you that I root against them when they play the Braves)!
